Wiggly tooth and bloody ear drums...

Tonight, Ollie started crying-- the kind of cry that a mom knows there is something wrong, but not a limb missing serious kind of wrong. Hubby happened to be coming in at the same moment as the outcry and he checked on her. I was at work in the kitchen on a cake and she was playing with her sister. Anyway she had done something to her mouth and she said her tooth hurt. Hubby checked it out and discovered she had a loose tooth. She had wiggled it and it bled a little and she got really scared. Now Hubby was so excited for her that it became contagious. Like, I was near tears in the whole idea that my baby is about to start losing her teeth... she is growing up oh so fast. Anyway, once she figured out what was going on she became overjoyed. She talked about that tooth, called everyone to tell them and bargained with her Nanny for a higher price than the "tooth fairy" as she dubbed Hubby and me. She has presold her first tooth. I think she has auctioned the tooth for a whopping... wait, wait for it...$1.00. She talked about the tooth, wiggled it with her tongue, giggled at the feeling of it against her tongue, asked about my first tooth loss (which I told her the story of how it is lost forever in Nanny's driveway...), talked about her tooth some more, asked if my tooth hurt when it fell out, asked if her tooth would hurt when it came out, learned the phrase "barely hanging in there"... My ears were bleeding by the time she went to bed. But, it is a good thing. I love that she is soooo excited about growing up. She even pretended to be wearing a bra at bath time... hmmm, not that fast now Ollie.

  7. auctioning off teeth to relatives sounds way more entertaining than the tooth fairy!
